Jack Self’s lecture “The Home Body” negotiates the history of the home and its role in everyday life. He regards home not just as a physical object, like a house, but as a psychological and spatial relationship between people and objects over time.
Jack Self is an architect and writer based in London. He is Director of the Real Foundation and Editor-in-Chief of the Real Review. In 2016, Self co-curated the British Pavilion at the Venice Architecture Biennale. In 2018, he was Master of Diploma Unit Six at the Architectural Association. His work has been shown widely, including at the Maxxi, Tate Britain, ICA and Design Museum. Self’s writing has appeared in The Guardian, the BBC, CNN and elsewhere. His books include Real Estates: Life Without Debt (now in its second printing), Home Economics (2016) and Mies in London (2018). Previously, he was Contributing Editor for Architectural Review, Editor-at-Large for 032c and Editor at Strelka Press.
